Having completed a Bachelor of Arts with majors in economics and political science and international relations at the University of Canterbury, Francesca has already demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence. Topping her class in economics in the first and second year and being the Dux of Riccarton High School showcases her exceptional abilities.

Jasmin has a passion for community, justice, freedom, and democracy.  Founding the Queer Straight Alliance at her high school, promoting policies on climate change as part of the Christchurch Youth Council executive, and her involvement in the School Strike 4 Climate Movement highlights her commitment to making a positive impact in society.

Her values serve as the foundation for her career goals, which includes becoming an analyst and deepening her understanding of politics through graduate studies. Her aspiration to work for the New Zealand Government as a policy analyst in security agencies and her interest in pursuing a career in politics demonstrate her dedication to public service.

Receiving the Yvonne Smith grant will not only provide financial support but also allow Francesca to focus on her studies and lessen the burden of financial pressure.  As a self-funded student, this assistance will enable her to concentrate fully on her academic pursuits.
