The Trustee of the Yvonne A M Smith Charitable Trust is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2010 Yvonne A M Smith Charitable Trust Scholarship is Nicole Alexandra Sharp.

Nicole will be studying a Master of Science in Sustainable Development (Commerce), at the University of St Andrews in Scotland.

Nicole’s background is in accounting and her post-graduate studies will focus on accounting for sustainability. Nicole’s excellent academics, wide range of community and cultural involvement, and potential for leadership in her chosen area, and its potential to improve business practice in New Zealand greatly impressed the interview panel, and they wish her well for her studies beginning at the end of 2010.

Nicole was chosen out of 57 applicants of a very high standard, to be awarded the $50,000 Yvonne A M Smith Charitable Trust Scholarship.

The directors were greatly saddened to learn of Nicole’s death as the result of a cycling accident in Wellington in September 2014.

Nicole was an outstanding recipient of the scholarship and during her year at St Andrews and subsequently was an excellent representative of the ideals of the scholarship founder.
