Divya Dhar
The Trustees of the Yvonne A M Smith Charitable Trust are pleased to announce that the winner of the 2011 scholarship is Divya Dhar.
 
Divya will be studying for a conjoint Masters degree in Public Policy as well as a Master of Business Administration.  Divya has been accepted by the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Boston, USA where she will undertake at least part of her studies over the next three years. 
 
Divya’s background is in public health, she is currently a junior doctor working at Middlemore Hospital.  In addition to Divya’s excellent academic record she has been involved in a wide range of community and cultural activities.  Her ultimate goal is in the leading of public-private partnerships that impact global health.  After graduation she will work for the New Zealand Ministry of Research Science and Technology to strategically situate New Zealand’s pharmaceutical industry at a point where New Zealand can benefit from the Asian economic rise whilst serving the health of the poorest.  Divya won the title of ‘Young New Zealander of the Year’ in 2010. 
 
Divya was chosen out of 59 applicants of a very high standard and was awarded the sum of $50,000 for the scholarship.
