Kiri Rangi Toki

The Trustees of the Yvonne A M Smith Charitable Trust are pleased to announce that the winner of the 2014/2015 scholarship is Kiri Rangi Toki.

Kiri will be studying for a Masters of Law (LLM) at Harvard.  She will be focusing on the legal issues facing the growth of the Māori economy. 

Kiri is of Ngāti Wai and Ngāpuhi descent.  She was raised on Great Barrier Island and is currently a solicitor in the litigation team at Chapman Tripp, holding a BA/LLB(Hons) degree from the University of Auckland. 

During her time at university, Kiri won a number of scholarships and prizes, including the Auckland Women’s Lawyers scholarship.  Kiri also tutored various law and arts papers, including contract law and the Māori Society course taught by Distinguished Professor Dame Anne Salmond.
